  • Walmart in Courtenay, BC
"With the nicer weather these days, I have noticed something very disturbing in the Walmart store which I had put off earlier to simply being overdressed in the winter time. Lately, whenever I step into the local Walmart, the air quality, or lack thereof, causes me to feel very uncomfortable. It's so stuffy and hot, and UNFRESH, in the store that I have found myself racing around to get what I "need", and get out of there as fast as possible..."
  • Walmart in Courtenay, BC
"It never ceases to amaze me how so many consumers who have accepted big box importers like Walmart as the defacto ONLY choice for goods and services, don't factor in the whole picture! "Lowest price" seems to be the greatest, most common excuse for shopping at this largest business on the planet..."
  • Walmart in Courtenay, BC
"Am I the only one who gets the impression that my time is worth absolutely nothing at Walmart? Just because Walmart has mastered the subordination of third-world labour and skirted around environmental responsibilities by dealing with manufacturers who pollute without eco checks and balances, that is no excuse for treating their customers with the same contempt..."
  • Walmart in Courtenay, BC
"The audacity and semantic sneakiness of Walmart does not seem to respect any bounds or limits, as demonstrated by a huge poster they have at the front of the store stating "Canadian Made and Proud of It"! Landscaping Before Selling Your Home

How does your landscaping compare to the neighbourhood?

As your prospective home buyers drive up to your house, they will have already formed an impression based on the overall appearance of your neighbourhood and how your yard compares to the landscaping of surrounding lots. While you might not be able to do much about the appearance of your neighbours' yards, you CAN, and SHOULD do all you can to make a great first impression from the outside of your house.

Bushes and shrubs can add value to your landscape.

Adding some bushes and shrubs to your yard can add some depth to your landscape. If you have mature trees, that's great, but there is not much cost benefit to planting new trees. Trees can be expensive and the less expensive, younger trees won't add much to the appearance of your home. Bushes and shrubs can be planted quickly and their visual rewards are immediate.

Flowers are great for adding colour to your yard.

The key to getting instant return on your investment in flowers is to add mature plants. Planting bulbs and seeds may take too long to realize the benefits. When adding flowers to your yard, be sure to choose vibrant colours to add a lively splash to your yard.

A manicured lawn is important.

Your lawn should be neatly edged, and uniformly cut. Any brown or unmatching patches should be replaced with sod and allowed enough time to blend into the rest of the yard. While buying trees and planting bulbs may not be worthwhile investments, resodding weak patches of lawn are worth the effort and should be done in the early stages of preparing your home for sale.

A tidy yard is noticed.

Regardless of time time of year, raking up leaves and glass cuttings to keep your yard tidy is very important. Even a quick rake and sweep before a visit from a prospective home buyer can make that critical difference!
